How to get the best experience with your contact lenses

Contact lenses are a convenient and flexible option for correcting vision, but to ensure they work optimally and provide maximum comfort, there are some important tips to keep in mind. As an optician, I often get questions about how to best use and care for lenses – here are my recommendations.

1. Always follow your optician’s instructions

It is important to follow your optician’s recommendations regarding lens type, prescription strength, and agreed wearing schedule. Do not exceed the specified times and replace lenses according to the schedule. This reduces the risk of irritation or infections and ensures the best possible visual comfort.

2. Always maintain good hygiene

Wash your hands thoroughly before handling lenses, and avoid touching them with dirty or wet hands. Clean and store your lenses according to the instructions – even daily disposable lenses should be handled correctly to prevent possible infections.

3. Give your eyes recovery time

Take regular breaks from wearing lenses, especially if you experience dryness or eye fatigue. Glasses can be a good alternative during longer periods of sedentary screen work or in dry environments. And remember, you should never wear lenses when you are sick.

4. Use moisturizing solutions if needed

If your eyes feel dry during the day, moisturizing drops or lenses with hydrating properties can make a big difference. Many modern lenses, such as Clearlii’s, are specifically designed to provide a comfortable feeling in the eyes all day long.

5. Have regular eye check-ups

Visit your optician for regular eye exams. This not only ensures that your prescription is correct but also allows potential problems to be detected early. Your eye health is crucial when wearing contact lenses.

6. Listen to your body

If you experience pain, redness, irritation, or blurred vision, remove the lenses and contact your optician. Discomfort is never normal, and early action can prevent more serious issues.

With the right habits, contact lenses can be both comfortable and healthy. By following these tips, you’ll not only enjoy better comfort and vision, but also a safer and more sustainable way to use lenses – day after day.
